Welcome to our 2017 Annual Report!
It’s been a year of consolidation for United Way Australia, as we refocus our efforts on our core work ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive – no matter what their postcode or family circumstance. As a result, we’ve been able to bring books and learning resources to almost 5000 children in 47 communities around the country, building vital early development skills.
In Mount Druitt, we’ve expanded and deepened our work through our flagship collective impact initiative, The Hive, to ensure all children in the 2770 postcode start school well, engaging with 55 organisations to reach more than 200 families.
We’ve also continued to deepen relationships with schools and the local business community, giving hundreds more youth the chance to build the employment skills and connections needed to successfully transition from school to work.
Of course, none of this would have been possible without our incredible network of partners and supporters, who have outdone themselves in terms of their passion and generosity. More than 500 stepped out to raise funds in the first ever Macquarie Business Park Community Walkathon, and our 2017 School Ball was our most successful yet, featuring memorable performances from our newly-appointed Ambassador Harrison Craig.
The following stories and statistics we’ve collected to share with you represent just a small part of the incredible impact that you’ve helped to achieve.
On behalf of the United Way Australia team, we sincerely thank you for your amazing support.
