Welcome to our 2018 Annual Report!

Stronger communities, deeper partnerships, and greater impact. These were the hallmarks of 2018, which saw United Way Australia’s renewed focus on our core work ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive pay dividends. Now seen as sector leader in community engagement, our collective impact initiative, The Hive (Mount Druitt NSW) has proved instrumental in connecting local families with early education opportunities, and identifying the ‘system’ drivers of intergenerational disadvantage.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has been recognised as a game-changer for building vital literacy and communication skills at both local and state level. In NSW, every child born in the Tamworth Local Government Area is now eligible for enrolment at birth, while in Victoria, the government approved the Imagination Library to receive School Readiness funding, translating to 600 more kindergarten children being enrolled in a matter of weeks, with many more to follow.

Our business community has continued to thrive, with our flagship Macquarie Park Business Community Partnership growing from strength to strength.  Diverse businesses are working together and multiplying their impact through early learning and youth mentoring initiatives, whilst engaging many of the local community groups.. The model has proved so successful that we’ve begun the groundwork to establish a similar models in other locations.

These and the following stories of change represent just a small part of the incredible impact our generous partners and supporters – like you – have made possible. None of this would be possible without your commitment and generosity.

Thank you for your amazing support.
