Our Community Collaborations

The Hive, Mount Druitt, NSW

Our work in Mount Druitt is coordinated through The Hive, a Collective Impact initiative that brings together over 50 community, business, and government groups to ensure all children in the 2770 postcode are developmentally on track in their first year of school.

Our 2018 Impact at a Glance:

  • Over 80 local families connected into childcare and formal early learning
  • 20 early learning professionals provided with quality training
  • Over 2000 quality books and learning packs delivered to 250+ vulnerable families
  • 100+ families  children engaged through community events and activities

In addition, The Hive has proved successful in raising awareness and supporting community and all levels of government to respond to the ‘system’ challenges that perpetuate entrenched disadvantage in the area.

City of Ryde, NSW

The City of Ryde is home to the Macquarie Business Park Community Partnership, a collaboration giving leading businesses the chance to give back locally, helping address their community’s most pressing needs through United Way’s Early Years and Transition to Work initiatives.

Our 2018 Impact at a Glance:

  • Over 3600 books delivered to 350+ children
  • Over 100 families engaged through the Magic of Storytelling community reading events, building greater support and awareness for shared reading
  • More than 200 local high school students provided with local business mentors and opportunities to build their employment skills
  • 700+ participants and volunteers stepping out against illiteracy through the Macquarie Park Community Walkathon, raising $20,000 for local children and youth
