United Way Empower your employees

Make a real difference, your way

Everyone likes to give back in different ways. Some of us love to show up and get involved, physically. Others enjoy participating in different and exciting fundraising events. United Way Australia prides itself on taking an innovative and engaging approach to fundraising, thinking outside the box for opportunities that aim to maximise employment engagement while raising funds for maximum impact. All funds raised go towards supporting local children enrolled in the Imagination Library.

The Macquarie Park Business Community Partnership Walkathon 2024

The Macquarie Park Business Community WALKATHON is back in 2024: a day where more than 500 local employees bring their commitment to fundraising for a cause to the streets of Macquarie Park! You’ll experience connection, networking, engagement and FUN as you see a different view of Macquarie Park than your office provides!

WEDNESDAY 20th November 2024 from 10.00am to 12:15pm

Start + Finish: The Lawns of Johnson & Johnson

Utilising an easy-walking course of approximately 4-5 km, get your colleagues to create teams, walk between our Partner Organisations and raise money for early childhood literacy. This year, we are aiming to exceed our 10-year goal to have over 1000 children in Ryde receiving educational books each month via Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

The Walkathon will give you the chance to:

  • empower your colleagues to walk together and give back to the community in which you work
  • join other local businesses to raise funds for local children’s literacy
  • get to know our neighbourhood business district better
  • have a fun morning with your colleagues, and there’s no fitness prerequisite – you can walk the distance you’d like to walk!

Featuring the best soccer teams Macquarie Park has to offer. The United Way Cup is a fun and friendly soccer round-robin competition as the players compete with their business’ pride at stake as well as the chance to be victorious against their peers.

The day is about coming together with your work neighbours and making a difference for early literacy in the Ryde LGA. Although for some, it’s definitely about bringing the trophy home.

Jumping for Literacy, a Guinness World Record

Jumping for Literacy raised awareness and vital funds for early literacy while challenging an official world record. The event was held in November 2020 to help engage staff during the COVID-19 pandemic and unite around a good cause.

Our Guinness World Record attempt is for most photos of yourself jumping uploaded to Facebook in one hour. Participants took a photo of yourself jumping in the air and upload it to Facebook.

We were successful in receiving over 500 photos of people jumping in the air helping us become official Guinness World Records™ titles and raising over $56,000 for the Imagination Library.

Tune into your organisation’s hidden musical talent – from the crooners to the belters to the air-guitar extraordinaires – and join us in this high-note competition to raise vital funds for children’s literacy.

After holding auditions with your internal teams, it will be time to put your talent to the test. Your best talent will strive to take home the trophy as they belt it out in a finale along with other organisations. Our esteemed panel of judges will choose based on talent, creativity, and cheekiness.

United We Sing held the finale in December 2021 and raised over $36,000 for early literacy.
