Donations

UWA accepts donations in the form of one-off payments or regularly recurring payments. UWA will ultimately determine how funds are allocated, distributed or spent within our organisation.

Tax-deductible receipts will be issued for donations of $2 of more by email to the email address entered at the time of the payment. No such receipt will be issued in relation to any anonymous donations.

UWA will not accept donations where:

  • a donor’s activities are incompatible our cause, values or objectives;
  • the cost of accepting a donation will be greater than the value of a donation;
  • there is reason to believe that our acceptance of a donation may give rise to litigation; or
  • we have a reasonable belief that a donor is in vulnerable circumstances or lacks capacity to make decisions relating to donations.

We record on our database the donor’s name, address, email, telephone, and amount donated. For more details on our practices concerning the collection and use of donors’ personal information, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

Secure Online Transactions

If you make a payment through our website, we will process your credit/debit card details securely using an accredited internet payment security system. We take reasonable measures to ensure that your credit/debit card and personal information are protected when you make a payment through our website. We also recommend that you take appropriate security precautions when accessing the internet via public Wi-Fi networks or shared computers.

Also, if you are linked to a third-party website before/after visiting our website, we cannot be held responsible for the policies, procedures and practices relating to privacy and security, by the owners or operators of that third party site. We recommend that you check the policy of that third party site and contact its owner or operator if you have any concerns or questions.

Refund Policy Statement (Donations)

United Way Australia expects that anyone wishing to make a donation will consider their decision carefully and check monetary amounts during transactions.

United Way Australia recognises that it is possible to make an error when making an online transaction, or that an error is made by United Way Australia or our financial institutions.

Any requests for a refund of donations should be made to receivables.finance@unitedway.com.au within 7 days.

Internet Donations

United Way Australia has a secure website, however, please be aware that there are inherent risks in transferring information across the internet.

Fundraising

You must register with UWA prior to commencing any fundraising activity/event on behalf of UWA. You are not permitted to fundraise on behalf of UWA until you have received an official letter of authorisation from us. This letter will be issued once we have assessed and approved your proposed fundraising event/activity.

You agree that you are solely responsible for all aspects of organising the fundraising activity/event, including but not limited to organising necessary logistics, safety considerations, permits, public liability insurance, publicity, prizes and compliance with any and all applicable laws and regulations.

You may use the UWA name and/or logo to promote your fundraising activity/event. However, any promotional material that uses the UWA name and/or logo must be preceded by the words ‘Proudly Supporting’ or words of a similar effect. All promotional material must be approved by UWA before being printed, posted online or otherwise distributed in any format. We reserve the right to reject or withdraw the distribution of any promotional materials that do not align with UWA’s values.

UWA operates under high ethical and moral standards and cannot be associated with certain events or activities. You agree not to align UWA with events or activities including extreme sports, gambling, alcohol or tobacco, X-rated or violent content, proceeds of a crime, games of chance that do not comply with State/Territory legislation or any activity that poses risk to children or young people.

You acknowledge that we reserve the right to withdraw your authority to organise a fundraising activity/event at any time if it appears to UWA that the fundraising activity/event may negatively impact, reflect badly or bring into disrepute the image, reputation or goodwill of UWA or if we believe you have or are likely to not meet any of these Terms and Conditions.

We reserve the right to audit paperwork associated with the event/fundraising activity and reject or withdraw any fundraising activity/event or donation that is deemed by us to be inconsistent with UWA’s values.

You accept that UWA will not be liable for any loss or costs incurred by you as a result of any rejected or withdrawn applications. You further agree to release UWA to the fullest extent permissible under law for all claims and demands of any kind associated with the fundraising event/activity and indemnify UWA for all liability or costs that may arise in respect to any damage, loss or injury occurring in respect of the fundraising event/activity caused by your breach of these Terms or Conditions.
